arcanetrivia: Guybrush hanging off the side of a ship by a rope, enjoying the wind - cropped to just his face (monkey island (guybrush sailing))

This fangame project for an interquel between MI2 and MI3 began in 2010, was cancelled in 2013 around the time Disney bought LucasArts, restarted in late 2014, but ultimately abandoned again. Pictures from their moribund Facebook page and the game's entry on AbandonSocios.

Logo for The Carnival of Monkey Island. The words "The carnival of" are on a wood panel decorated with a skull and crossbones above the orange text, "Monkey Island", that is a recolor of the Tales of Monkey Island logo.
Banner image for The Carnival of Monkey Island. The left side of the image has blank paper where text would probably have been placed. Next to this are two tickets to Big Whoop, and then a scene of Guybrush running towards the viewer with amusement park rides in the background.

Guybrush appearing as a child in the underground tunnels from the end of Monkey Island 2.
The interior of the Voodoo Lady's parlor, with her red plush throne, cauldron steaming and giving off green light, and a round rug on the floor with a voodoo symbol. The scene is drawn in a style very like Bill Tiller.
A nighttime scene of a tavern called The Irish Mile. The building is a dark teal blue and its windows glow orange. In the street outside is a sign advertising attractions at Big Whoop and pointing the way off-frame to the left. A large yellow moon and swirling clouds are in the sky behind a Ferris wheel in the background. The scene is drawn in a style very like Bill Tiller.

"The last thing I remember is being pursued by my arch-nemesis, LeChuck, through a series of mysterious underground tunnels with architecture unlike that I’ve ever seen. I tried my best to escape him, but every corner I turned only led me back into his clutches. That was, until I defeated him. At least I think I defeated him. What began as a clear victory for me soon turned to confusion. My memory is hazy and I remember very little of the peculiar events that occurred inside those tunnels. It surely must have been a spell from the zombie pirate, what other explanation could there be?" (x)
